Thinking 1000 years ahead

"Humans now hold the fate of the planet's life forms in our hands. We have become such a dominant species that we make extinct whole species seemingly at a whim, and our soiling of our own environment threatens to make extinct many hundreds of  thousand more.

"We are on the cusp of appreciating and acting upon this grave responsibility; but now there is an urgency about it, a race to use our new consciousness to change quickly from being blundering wreckers to nurturing guardians, before our global farting changes the planet so drastically that our own survival is threatened, let alone those hundreds of thousands of species along with us on the ride.

"We have to start thinking 1000 years ahead, not just one at a time."
